Our Story

DogMoore started with a simple belief: every dog deserves training that's tailored to who they are — not a cookie-cutter program designed to process as many dogs as possible. Matthew Moore founded DogMoore after spending over a decade working with dogs of every breed, temperament, and behavioral challenge across Nashville, TN.

What began as a passion for understanding why dogs behave the way they do evolved into a professional calling. After years of studying canine behavior, attending training seminars across the country, and working alongside experienced trainers, Matthew launched DogMoore to bring personalized, results-driven dog training to Nashville, TN and the surrounding communities.

Today, DogMoore has helped hundreds of families across Nashville, Spring Hill, Pulaski, Lawrenceburg, and the greater Maury County area build stronger relationships with their dogs. From hyperactive puppies to aggressive rescues, from stubborn adolescents to anxious seniors — every dog that comes through our program gets a training plan built specifically for them.

Meet Matthew Moore

Matthew Moore is a professional dog trainer with over 10 years of hands-on experience working with dogs of every breed, size, and temperament. Based in the Nashville, TN area, Matthew has built a reputation for honest assessments, personalized training plans, and results that last long after the training sessions end.

Matthew's training philosophy is rooted in balance — combining positive reinforcement with clear communication and fair expectations. He believes that the best training happens when dogs understand what's expected of them and are motivated to comply, not when they're intimidated into submission.

What sets Matthew apart is his commitment to owner education. He doesn't just train dogs — he teaches owners the skills, timing, and understanding needed to maintain and build on training independently. Because the reality is, a well-trained dog is only as good as a well-educated owner.

Training Philosophy

At DogMoore, we practice balanced dog training — an approach that uses the full spectrum of learning theory to communicate clearly with dogs. This means positive reinforcement for desired behaviors (treats, praise, toys, play) combined with fair, proportionate corrections for unwanted behaviors when appropriate.

We don't subscribe to any single ideology. Some dogs respond best to purely positive methods. Others need clearer boundaries and structure to thrive. Our job is to read each individual dog and use whatever approach produces the best results for that specific animal — not to force every dog through the same methodology because it aligns with a training philosophy.

This flexibility is what allows us to work with such a wide range of dogs and behavioral issues. A fearful rescue needs a very different approach than a confident, stubborn adolescent. A reactive dog on walks requires different tools than a puppy learning basic manners. We adapt our methods to the dog in front of us, every single time.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Matthew. His training and advice have had a profound impact on my six-year-old bully. She now walks on a leash without pulling me down and interacts with strangers in a friendly manner. Her behavior has undergone a significant transformation. Matthew Moore has successfully debunked the myth that you can't teach an old dog new tricks!

So thankful for Matt and Tarin at DogMoore. I was overwhelmed trying to learn how to train my first 'big dog' and they moved mountains. We did a 6 week training course and it was perfect! She has all her basic commands down and turned into an amazing dog that listens! When I am out walking her or take her places people are amazed at how well behaved she is.

I did an e-collar/off-leash training class with DogMoore and it was amazing! I had a very defiant and mischievous 1 year old border collie mix who is now an amazing listener. He can run and play without the restrictions of a leash now that I know he won't ever be going into the street.
